Los Angeles’ Vinyl Williams sparkles on their new track ‘LA Egypt’, a psychedelic slice of the upcoming EP ‘Azure’, due for release this summer. The new single is a complex soundscape that takes you on a beautifully artistic journey.

‘LA Egypt’ is underlined with smooth guitar lines and mellow vocals that are decadently topped with woozy synths. The sound comes through reminiscent of the 70s heydays but with such a gorgeous modern edge to it. The expansive tones throughout this track leave your ears no time to rest but the delicate movement between verse and chorus leave you feeling totally relaxed.

The new release from UK based Kopper is one half of a double release coming alongside sister track ‘Fake It’.  The single singles bring forward a punk laced alt rock sound that is sure to catch the eyes and ears.

‘How Can You Be Sure’ has a raw, aggressive energy in the verses that morphs into something far more melodic in the choruses. The snarling vocals compliment the brash and heavily overdriven guitars perfectly to create a strong post punk sound, whilst moments of the songs allow it to delve into the alt rock sphere. This is truly a track that crosses borders and shows off some serious songwriting mastery.

Stellar Ash are a three-piece rock group from Canada and there new single ‘Watch Me Go’ harks back to the late 90s heydays of alt rock. This is one for fans of early Foo Fighters and maybe even bands like The Offspring.

The single has a huge driving energy behind it pushing the guitars and vocal melodies into the fore. The choruses are undeniably catchy and its raw sound brings a retrospective wash across the track leaving the listener fondly remembering times past. If watch me ‘Watch Me Go’  was written and released 15 years ago it would have set this band on a path to glory, but that takes nothing away from what is a masterfully written slice of alternative rock.

Vivillain · Savior

New Norwegian band Vivillian have got into the swing of thing really quick. With two singles under their belt as well as a host of international shows the band now release their new single ‘Savior’

The latest offering shows of a wide range of influences with so many genre finding a place in the track. There are hints of glam, hints of pop punk, hints of heavy metal, but when this is all blended together into Vivillian’s own sound it becomes cohesive and powerful. The choruses really give off an energetic vibe and make the song feel complete.

Marlin’s Dreaming · Alike

Marlin’s Dreaming are a band we have been keeping an eye on for a while, well since their entrance to the scene in 2017. The New Zealander’s new single ‘Alike’ comes as part of the new LP ‘Quotidian’.

Under the surface you can hear shades of 90s alt rock in the new release, but it is layered with a more relaxed tone which brings a modern lo-fi feeling into the track. ‘Alike’ walks the tightrope between energetic rock and a more chilled out vibe but it strikes this balance perfectly. This new single is really accessible and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this band continue going from strength to srength.

Julien Staartjes · Summer With Monica – The Art Of Losing

Amsterdam based Summer With Monica release their new track ‘The Art Of Losing’. Once described as ‘Lou Reed meets Mac Miller’ certainly made Summer With Monica an interesting proposition, but why not see for yourself.

The melancholic tones of ‘The Art Of Losing’ really set the scene for the entire sound but there is a gentle contrast with upbeat drums and bright guitar tones. The vocal gives a purposefully lazy feeling to the track and adds to that more morose element of the track. This one is moody but but at the same time wholly enjoyable.

Spelks · The Happy Places

Ah, Newcastle. The city that has fast become one of our favourites for new music and the new single from Spelks is no exception. ‘The Happy Places’ dropped last Friday on Montgomery Records and the world is a better place for it.

The guitars open the track with a gentle strum that holds a moodier edge that underlines the single. The vocals in places take on a Placebo-esque melody and in other comes through with a unique edge that slots into the slightly down-tempo alt sound just perfectly. Moments might remind you of Weezer and other of something a little darker, ‘The Happy Places’ keeps you wondering where you might have heard this before and the answer is nowhere. Its a sublime and unique offering and gets high marks from us.

‘Leave A Mess’ is the new single from German band Liotta Seoul, coming from their newly released album ‘Hopper’.

‘Leave A Mess’ holds an interesting sound that border between the melodic hums of Placebo and a heavier 90s grunge sound. The vocals have a mellow, relaxed delivery that fuels the track with a careless attitude, whilst the guitars back this up with huge and distorted tones. The combination peaks beautifully in the choruses where the attitude is dialling down a notch, allowing a little more melody in.

‘Dissolve’ is the new release from North Carolina four-piece Secret Shame and follows on from their 2019 album ‘Dark Synthetics’.

The new single is laced with 80s pop sounds and punky goth tones in equal measure. Moments of the track are reminiscent of The Cure and others of Pale Waves. ‘Dissolve’ is a vintage tinge take on modern pop rock… or should that be the other way around? What ever decision you make I’m sure you’ll agree that the delicate, melodic vocals and the steady energy from the rhythm section make this track a real stand out.
